The tawny owl ( Strix aluco ) is a medium-sized, nocturnal, sedentary owl that lives in the forests of the Iberian Peninsula. Thanks to its remarkable adaptability, it can establish itself in a wide variety of ecosystems, from dense forests to semi-urban areas. As a specialized predator, it feeds mainly on small mammals such as voles, rats, mice, and dormice, playing a crucial role in the biological control of pests that affect local ecosystems and crops.
This nest box has been carefully designed to provide a safe and suitable space for nesting and shelter for the tawny owl, thus contributing to the conservation of this species and the natural balance of its environment. Its installation facilitates the presence of these owls in areas where natural shelters are limited, supporting biodiversity and maintaining healthy ecosystems.
