This large hotel (100 x 150 cm) consists of 11 distinct sections or "rooms," each filled with different materials that replicate the natural habitats of different insect species. These include:

  • Hollow logs and reeds: These are used for nesting by pollinating insects such as bees and solitary wasps.
  • Pine cones and straw: Ladybugs, spiders, earwigs, and lacewings hide and hibernate there, feeding on aphids and other pest-causing insects.
  • Box with holes: can be used by beetles such as the seven-spotted ladybug and other similar ladybugs, which are also great predators of aphids.
  • Box with vertical holes: used for hibernation or as a refuge for diurnal butterflies.
  • Gero Bricks: The holes are used mainly by bumblebees, wasps and solitary bees.
